NaNoWriMo 2011

It’s that time of year again: National Novel Writing Month, the annual writing event. NaNoWriMo was responsible for kickstarting my most recent novel, which was a major step on a new path for me. And with that project more or less “in the can,” I’ve decided to participate again this year on the next book: Rogue Souls.

October was a pretty grim month for me, for reasons I won’t get into, but I think a big part of the malaise was that unsettling, in-between feeling of not having a writing project going. I’m hoping getting something new underway will lift me out of the doldrums, and I expect it will. But I’m feeling nervous, since my fiction-writing chops are feeling pretty rusty after an extended October funk.

So, a public declaration to challenge myself: I’m doing NaNoWriMo this year (damn it)!  I’ve never been much of a joiner, so my participation is unofficial, but I’ll be pushing myself for word count at least until the end of the month, and hopefully beyond. Wish me luck, and best of luck to all my writing friends out there embarking on the same journey!
