Last week, on Saturday, our beloved Cairo, the loving elder statesman of our cat trio, passed away. He was easily one of the most beautiful and affectionate cats I’ve ever known, a world-class snuggler with a hell of a purr motor and a knack for aggressive, adorable head butts. He also had a mean set of pipes when he got his grouch on, and used his moody moments to keep his brothers in line. I met Cairo as a kitten, and for the next sixteen years he was a constant, reassuring presence through all sorts of tumultuous life business. He leaves behind two younger brothers and a pair of grief-stricken parents, who will remain forever grateful we got to know him. R.I.P. Cairo Dashiell Reese, 2005–2022. We will miss you dearly.
