I don’t write much short fiction these days — and publish even less! — so it’s a rare thrill to get to announce I have a new story out. “Phantom Agency” is now up today at Sunday Morning Transport!
It’s been over five years since I published anything, but much, much longer since the notion for this story came into my head — back during the Spy 100 Project, in fact, when I was swimming in so much spy-fi that the terminology was leaking out of my ears. It was a vague story seed and I never knew what to do with the concept, but it wasn’t until Fran Wilde encouraged me to try a spy fantasy for SMT that I wrote my way into it. I’m pretty happy with the result, and hope you’ll give it a try.
