When the worst timeline doesn’t deliver much to cheer about, sometimes you have to manufacture your own joy. Recently, for Jenn and I, that has involved bringing new cats into our lives. Say hello to Cooper and Smudge!
They haven’t been with us long, but we’re already smitten. So far, it appears that Cooper — short for Agent Cooper — is the mischievous, outgoing one, while Smudge is more reserved and solitary, but still cuddly. They are bonded, four-year-old litter mates, often joined at the hip, but more and more they seem excited to spend time with us as well. Oslo, meanwhile, has welcomed the new arrivals with side-eyes and occasional hissing — but for a cat in his curmudgeonly dotage, he’s taking it all pretty well, and ultimately I think everyone’s going to get along.
I’m feeling very fortunate that we were in a position to give these guys a new home, and even more so that they seem to like it here.
